Overview

I've worked on this region's design for a number of years, practicing my 3D design skills and learning a little about community architecture as a co-founder and 'director of architecture' in Extropia. Along with partners who specialise in running online events, community relations and managing administrative tasks, the directorate continues to support a modest niche of Second Life users, many of whom consider Extropia to be their home.

Extropia's proud history includes:

  • Over two years' presence on the Second Life grid.
  • Consecutive annual hosting of the NASA Yuri's Night event - once unique amongst virtual world platforms as its only online host.
  • A stellar series of guest host talks, including authors Charles Stross, Robert J. Sawyer and Kim Stanley Robinson; online world journalist & writer, Wagner James Au; artist, Truthseeker Young and musician, Grace McDunnough.
  • Host to community events such as book clubs, sculpture and fishing contests, and a series of regular discussions.
